On my resons for even writing this in the first place.

I figure there will be people that will ask this question so before I go on to expand on DW matters I though I should explain myself.

The first reason I decided to create a blog and write about a fantasy wrestling federation is to expand the experience for the people in the federation. This blog will be an extension of the Forum and the shows. The forum is meant to organize and direct the flow of work on the shows. The shows themselves are a done deal - the players can watch them and that's about it. Here they can comment and discuss without being herded into a specific area like they would be on the forum. They can also expand their storyline if the so desire by adding extra events and situations that will only appear here.

The second reason is that TWG has been experiencing a decline in the number of people interested in the game and the federations have felt that most of all. Not only are there fewer active players in the game in general but there are fewer and fewer role players for the feds. My goal is to put the game out in the open so that people who wouldn't ordinarily even hear about it may get a glimpse. My hope is that I will draw the interest of outsiders to both TWG and it feds. Ultimately I hope to draw creative people to the game and specifically to my federation DW but even if they chose to go to the competition it's fine by me.

There is one more reason for me creating this blog and it is closely related to the first one. The main reason I am a GM in TWG and a big reason why the guys who are signed to DW are there is that we are a creative bunch and the shows are a place to express ourselves. The problem is why the declining interest in the game I already mentioned out work doesn't get to be appreciated (even negative reactions would fall into that category though if you are going to criticize our work I would prefer it is constructive criticism and not just using it as a punching bag).

So there it is. I am looking to show off the work me and my fellow players are doing and if possible attract more people to TWG and Darkness Wrestling. If you don't like my reasons - that's too bad, they are what they are and as long as I have the drive and motivation to run DW I will probably have some left to maintain this blog.

About Darkness Wrestling

Darkness Wrestling is a federation within the TWG federations structure. We have just finished our 8th season of shows and are currently in the Continental level of competition which is the third level in TWG's structure.
Darkness Wrestling began it's operation in November 2009. Our first show ever ran on the 18th of that same month drawing in just shy of 3000 spectators. Unfortunately the archives containing our early shows were lost during a crash of the TWG servers but all shows since 09/06/2010 are available for viewing at http://www.thewrestlinggame.com/wgame/show.asp?roster=458
The archive above and the shows contained in it are accessible without a TWG registration.

The current DW roster consists of 39 wrestlers with 7-8 new signings expected by the end of this year. Operations of the fed are coordinated through the federation forum - http://darknesswrestling.forumotion.com/forum.htm  where members post their role-plays and season plans and I as General Manager inform them of the match booking for each show.

In the 8 seasons of it's existence DW has employed a large numbers of TWG wrestlers having had quite of few just pass through. However aside from this GM's personally controlled 4 accounts there has always been a core group of players that have been completely loyal to the federation.

The successful and continued work of DW however is based not so much on those loyal but inactive (as far as role playing goes) members as it is on the people that put some of their free time into creating their stories and the individual segments that tell those stories.

This blog will follow and expand on both the future endeavors of DW as well as it's history (what I can recall and collect from the archives of it anyway). I will eventually post highlight of past storylines and I will post the history of DW's championships - one of the biggest driving forces for a player to join a federation in the first place.

What is TWG - a short introduction to the place where Darkness Wrestling operates

TWG is the acronym for TheWrestlingGame. It is a browser based, text driven interned wrestling game that on it's main server supports federation run by players and consisting of 40-50 other users signed to the specific federation. The driving force behind the federations is Role-Playing. Members of the federation create short(well not necessarily short) situation segments to tell a story and eventually situations are resolved in matches generated in the games match engine.

Here are some screen shots from the main portion of the game.

these illustrate just the main game where you build up you wrestler and get him(or her, thought the game doesn't supports female characters specific text) for the federations scene.
